Ranbir Kapoor is set to play a confused NRI in a film to be directed by Mani Ratnam.Even as Ratnam shoots for his film ‘Raavana’ with Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai in the south.

The talented director has zeroed down on the script for his next. Written by Rensil D’Silva, the movie is based on the theme of identity crisis faced by an NRI.

Ranbir Kapoor has been approached to play the role of a young, outgoing Indian in London who is torn between his Indian values and western lifestyle. It’s a story of coming of age of a youth trying to get a clear perspective of life.

Ranbir is in contention for the role and he has, in all likelihood, already bagged it.Other starcast of the untitled film is yet to be finalized. Ranbir presently has two interesting projects in his hands  Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and Wake Up Sid .Shooting of Ratnam’s film is likely to begin in the middle of 2009.

Bollywood actress Neetu Chandra, who was shooting for a Telugu film in Hyderabad, has alleged that she was manhandled by her co-star southern hero Rajasekhar. The actor's wife has, however, rubbished the allegations and accused the starlet of unprofessionalism.

Neetu said she was in Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, on a five-day shoot Dec 19-23 for Telugu film Sathyameva Jayathe, which is being directed by Rajasekhar's wife Jeevitha, when the incident took place.

“They were shooting for almost 18 hours a day...I couldn't take so much exertion as I was already down with fever for four days on Tuesday. So at 11 pm, I went to my room to rest for a while as there was time for my next shoot and Ramoji (Film City) is just five minutes from my hotel,” said Neetu.

The Dubai International Film Festival kicked off its fifth addition on Thursday with stars from Hollywood, Bolywood and the world of Arab cinema.

The eight-day-long festival, which will feature 182 films from 66 countries, was launched with the screening of "W." This latest movie by director Oliver Stone, an outspoken critic of the Iraq war, chronicles the rise to power of outgoing US President George W. Bush.

Hundreds of cameras flashed at the luxury beachside resort Madinat Jumeirah, as Oliver Stone and Goldie Hawn and Ben Affleck appeared on the red carpet. Oscar winner Nicolas Cage, Salma Hayek, Oscar nominee Laura Linney, Casey Affleck, Brendan Fraser and Danny Glover top a long list of celebrities expected to attend the festival.

Miss World runner-up Parvathy Omankuttan is open to good offers in Bollywood but right now she wants to go on a long vacation to "calm myself"."I am looking for a career in films but have not really planned my future as I first need to go on a long vacation to calm myself. However, I hope good roles come my way," Parvathy told PTI here.

The 21-year-old beauty queen, who narrowly missed the title earlier won by the likes of Rita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999) and Priyanka Chopra (2000), at the pageant held in Johanesburg, attributed her inability to win the crown to the "luck factor".

"I did my best," she said, adding that missing the title by a whisker was a disappointment.Parvathy said she would continue with her modelling assignments.Describing the experience of the Miss World campaign as overwhelming, Parvathy said she made many friends during the period.
