Priyanka Chopra experienced a deja vu of sorts recently when she was shooting in Pollachi for Anurag Basu's Burfee. After all, that's the town where the pretty actress began her career in the cine industry. In an exclusive chat with CT from Pollachi, PC talks about why she considers Tamil Nadu special...
You were in Pollachi shooting for Burfee. How is the experience shooting there?
It was a lovely experience, especially since Pollachi is very beautiful and also because I have very fond memories attached to this place.
Isn't that were you shot for your debut flick, Tamizhan? Those are the fond memories I was talking about! I shot my first film here and ironically, this time around, we were shooting in almost the same locations for Burfee, as we did back then. I almost felt like a newcomer again with a flood of memories coming my way.
We hear you were offered A R Murugadoss's film with Vijay as well. Why didn't you take up the offer?
Vijay was my first coactor and I continue to be a big fan of his. I would love to work with him again, and also with Murugadoss sir. But, I wasn't offered the film. If a good offer comes along, I would love the chance to work in Tamil films again.
How is your equation with the Burfee team - Anurag, Ileana and Ranbir?
I have worked with Ranbir before in Anjaana Anjaani and he is a fabulous actor and a fun costar. It's my first working experience with Ileana and I now realize why she is such a big star in the south! She is professional, beautiful and talented. Anurag sir has made Burfee one of my most memorable experiences based purely on how special he is making this film look and what a truly wonderful person he is.
You're playing a mentally challenged girl in this film. What kind of homework went into it?
As much as people might think that this is a very serious film, it's actually a funny, sweet movie with a lot of laughs and 'awwww' moments. I play an autistic in the film, but it has a very different point of view from what people have seen in films before.
